This is neither a legal seminar nor a presentation of the tool. It is a club-style discussion for CFOs on when a KIF truly functions as a management framework for business, and when it creates additional complexity, costs and risks.

1. Expert session (40 mins)

In this session, he will explain:
✅ What issues do clients come to us with? Assets, investments, financing, taxes, M&A, property development, inheritance? What drives clients to choose a KIF over a conventional structure?
✅ Why do they choose a KIF — and is it always justified? What alternatives were considered, and what criteria are used to make the choice? Where is the decision rational, and where is it simply following a trend?
✅ Common mistakes and usage patterns. What mistakes are most frequently repeated? Where is the KIF being used for purposes other than its intended one?
✅ What changes after implementation? What new control points emerge – accounting, reporting, interaction with the asset management company? What do clients underestimate at the outset?
✅ Pitfalls from real-world experience. What proves more difficult than expected? What costs and risks are not taken into account in advance? When is a KIF an unnecessary solution?

Oleksandr Kulikov is an expert in the stock market, investment instruments, corporate governance and asset management. He has over 18 years’ experience in the financial sector, including in senior roles at investment firms and on the supervisory boards of financial institutions. He headed the investment company UNIVER, overseeing the launch of investment products, funds, sub-brokerage services in international markets and solutions for securities trading.

His expertise covers the capital market, open-ended investment funds (OIFs), asset management, financial monitoring, compliance, corporate governance and interaction with regulators. During the session, Oleksandr will help participants understand how OIFs can be used in business, what problems they solve, what limitations they have, and what a CFO needs to consider before deciding on such a structure.
